This is a personal fundraising page for Keli Keach to attend a TGL Nicaragua Photography Workshop. All money goes directly to Emp. Intl.
Hey! Thanks for taking the time to come check out my fundraising page. This summer, I will be traveling to Nicaragua with The Giving Lens. The Giving Lens is an organization that seeks to combine three really wonderful things: travel, photography, and giving back to local communities.
For our particular trip to Nicaragua, we will be volunteering our time with Empowerment International, a non-profit that seeks to end poverty through child education. They work tirelessly to get children from impoverished, low-income, or struggling families in to schools, and then they work just as hard to keep them coming. When these families are struggling so much - many Nicaraguans live on less than $2 a day - often the children will end up going to work well before they are done school. This is, of course, just a short term solution; if the child were to stay in school, they could get a much higher paying and stable job in the future. This would break the poverty cycle.
Our team will be coming alongside the youth of this program who are attempting to learn photography as a means of self-expression, creativity, and as an emotional outlet. Not surprisingly, this special class draws a number of youth and keeps them interested in school. We seek to empower, encourage, and support them as they learn and practice photography with us, and founder of TGL, photographer Colby Brown.
Thank you for considering supporting this cause and my trip. Any and all donations are deeply and greatly appreciated. Donations will go towards supporting Empowerment International, school supplies for the children, child education, and much more. You can help break the poverty cycle in Nicaragua!
