I'm raising pledges, then skiing or riding no less than 10,000 vertical feet in the 3rd annual GOALS Vertical Challenge. Want to know why?
I support GOALS (Get Outside And Learn Something), a Colorado charity that provides unique outdoor education opportunities for kids in the form of multi-day wilderness river trips.
GOALS river programs are so much more than "just another river trip." Kids get to spend several days in the canyon with GOALS, leaving their video games behind and disconnecting from the confinements of electronic media. They push themselves both physically and mentally, learning to trust one another and work as a team - ultimately recognizing the growth that occurs both individually and collectively between the put-in and the take-out of their river trip. GOALS graduates walk away with an increased sense of confidence and comfort outdoors, a knowledge of the difference between healthy risks and unhealthy risks, and an understanding of the importance of conservation.
All of these lessons are important to me, and I'm glad that GOALS exists to share them with our youngest generation. Therefore, I've joined the 2013 GOALS Vertical Challenge team. This is the 3rd year of the event, and GOALS is aiming to build a team of 100 skiers/riders who can raise $50,000, then log a total of 2,000,000 vertical feet at Loveland Ski Area on March 16th.
I'm proud to be a member of this team. I believe in the impact that their experiential education programs have on the kids who are lucky enough to take part, and my work will make these programs available to more kids. I hope you'll help me support an organization whose mission I believe in.
I've set a personal goal to raise at least $500, and hope that you'll make a tax-deductible donation to help me get there. Every donation makes a difference - both in my fund raising and in the lives of the kids you're ultimately supporting!
