Patrick Eagan fundraising for Muscular Dystrophy Association
All donations will help MDA to continue its research efforts and programs to aid those with neuromuscular diseases and their families.
Each spring, 40,000 runners, joggers, and walkers take to the streets for Richmond's annual Monument Ave 10K. This year, the brothers of Kappa Alpha Order Eta Chapter from the University of Richmond will be joining the race, and dedicating their efforts to fundraising for MDA.
KA's national philanthrophic organization of choice, MDA is the world's largest non-governmental sponsor of research seeking the causes of and effective treatments for neuromuscular diseases, sponsoring 330 research projects annually.
Muscular dystrophy (MD) refers to a group of more than 30 inherited diseases that cause muscle weakness and muscle loss. Some forms of MD appear in infancy or childhood, while others may not appear until middle age or later. The different muscular dystrophies vary in who they affect and the symptoms. All forms of MD grow worse as the person's muscles get weaker. Most people with MD eventually lose the ability to walk.
Treatments include physical and speech therapy, orthopedic devices, surgery and medications. Some individuals with muscular dystrophy have mild cases that worsen slowly. Other cases are disabling and severe.
Currently, there is no cure for muscular dystrophy, but your donations will help MDA to continue its research efforts and nationwide programs to aid those afflicted and their families.
No matter how large or small, every single donation makes a difference so please take some time to help our cause as we run the Monument Ave 10K for MDA!
Thank you for all of your support,
Kappa Alpha Order Eta Chapter
