To help attract information to solve the killing of 3 year old Terrell we are seeking to raise the value of the reward.

3 year old Terrell Mayes Jr. of Minneapolis was killed by a random bullet when he was running for shelter away from the sounds of shots outside of his house. It happened on the day after Christmas, Monday, December 26, 2011 in the 2600 block of Colfax Av. N. in Minneapolis. Police have determined that this was a random shot and neither Terrell nor any members of his family were an intended target. The random and senseless nature of this killing has added to the tragedy befalling the family, friends, neighbors and entire Twin Cities community.

Crime Stoppers of Minnesota has proven a useful tool to attract information from members of the public in such a way that keeps them anonymous therefore providing Police with information they would not otherwise have access to. Crime Stoppers offers a standard reward of up to $1,000 for a tip leading to an arrest. Because this is such a tragic case and due to its random nature, you can help elevate the level of the reward and hopefully increase the possibility of attracting that bit of information that can solve this case as well as bring resolution to the family.

Funds collected by the Justice for Terrell Mayes Jr. campaign of Crime Stoppers of Minnesota will be used to enhance that reward making it worth up to the amount collected plus the normal offer of up to $1,000 paid by Crime Stoppers according to its rules. For example if $3,000 is collected the reward offered will be up to $4,000.

All donations to Crime Stoppers of Minnesota are tax deductible.

    My thoughts and prayers are with the family. This senseless tragedy took the life of a young boy that had all his years ahead of him. Enough is Enough! Too many young people are dying. This is not just a neighborhood's problem this is a human problem and everyone needs to stand up and do something.

    It's shameful that the reward isn't higher. Let's get the word out and raise the funds. No amount of money can equal the value of this young man's life, but we can do our part as a community to show his family that his life mattered.
