I will be running the 2012 Boston Marathon on April 16 to raise money & awareness for Summer Search--- to give low-income teens a chance!
I believe in a lot of things when it comes to what's good about this world. At the top of my beliefs, is an idea I created around the day July 25, which I designated as my "favorite day of the year" when I was 14 years old.
I understood that summer how very lucky I was with the freedom and amazingly fun experiences I was afforded to have in the summer each year, and I knew that as I got older, I would not have such easy access to the free-spiritedness I had grown accustomed to. When my parents told me I would need to start holding a job the following summer, I decided to immortalize how happy I was that summer in my early teens. I decided that every year, for the rest of my life, I would celebrate July 25 as the one day where I need to let it all out and become a pawn of summertime liberation.
I was introduced to Summer Search in 2010 by a very good friend of mine who I had spent a summer working with at Maine Teen Camp (which also happens to be a Summer Search destination). The moment I heard the organization's mission, I realized that I had found not only a new inspiration in my life, but one that completely embodies my own philosophy about summer and its impact on one's positive outlook on life.
**FOR ANY OF YOU WHO DONATE (And I'm talking even $10!) I WILL PAINT YOUR NAME ON MY BODY THE DAY OF THE RACE BECAUSE YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS CAUSE WILL MEAN ENOUGH TO ME TO HAVE YOU RUN IT WITH ME.
Thank you in advance and I promise to run VERY fast.
