I'm going to Guyana this spring to build a community center with my B3 team "Esperanza"! Please help me get there by making a donation!
Dear Friends and Family,
I am excited to tell you about my community service trip this March through a non-profit organization called Builders Beyond Borders (B3). It is a local organization that gives high school students a chance to connect with communities and people in the Latin American countries as well as to improve the conditions in our own towns by doing volunteer work. This spring I get to travel to Guyana, on the northern coast of South America, with my team “esperanza”. We will be going to an area called Festival city, named for its cultural roots to one of the most famous and celebrated festivals in the Caribbean, located in North Ruimveldt.
Festival city is in need of a place for the community to come together for meetings, medical clinics, cultural events, job training, and school classes. My team and I will be partnering with Habitat for Humanity through Builders Beyond Borders to build a community center for the Guyanese where these events can take place. This will be both a safe and inviting place where the youth and old alike can gather and the site of Habitat for Humanity’s first Resource Center in all of Guyana that will help give oversight to programs, maintenance and sustainability in Festival City. I am so excited to be a part of this trip because it brings to life the community values and involvement that was one of the reasons I was so interested to join B3. It will be a once in a life time experience to get to converse and learn the culture of the people and children that live in Guyana while building the community center in hopes of making a difference in their lives.
I need your help to assist me in raising the money I will need to go on this community service trip in the spring. I need to raise $2,750 by February first, which covers travel expenses, tools, food, and transportation while in Guyana. I wouldn’t be asking for donations if this trip didn’t mean a lot to me and I really need your support to accomplish my goal. If you would like to make an online donation to my trip to Guyana please go to “razoo.com” and search “Juliet Fontana- B3 Guyana 2013”. If you prefer to donate by check, it can be made out to “builders beyond borders” and sent to me at “990 Hulls Farm Rd., Southport, ct, 06890”. Any donation amount will help and be much appreciated by me as well as the families in Guyana. If you would like more information about the trip or organization feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I believe that going on this trip will be both helpful to the lives of the Guyanese and a learning experience for me about the greater world outside of my life at home.
Thank you so much, I appreciate your help!
