With the Maple Grove Rotary and Haiti Outreach, we are raising $ for school and clean water for Haiti.
This is the third year I've participated in the Polar Dunk. The first year I was terrified and thought I would die of a heart attack. I even had a temper tantrum that was filmed and shown on Channel 5 news! Me in a speedo having a temper tantrum on the news - OMG!
Next year, I just wanted in to get the damn thing over with and Jeff Berg and I jumped in together.
Now, this is the third year. Through the foolishness of jumping into a frozen lake on a freezing day in January, and showing the world how awful I look in a swimsuit; I have had lots of friends support me on this thru contributions to Haiti Outreach. Some friends made contributions if I would do the jump and some contributed if I wouldn't jump. Either way, it doesn't matter because it is an excellent cause. I've also had an outstanding pit-crew to support me at the event!
Here in the land of 10,000 lakes, we never worry about clean water - how fortunate we are that this is never an issue. We always have clean water to drink, cook with and shower. Lake Superior (biggest freshwater lake in the world), and the Mississippi river (one of the longest rivers in the world) have been very generous to us Minnesotans!
And as far as schools go, we have some of the best schools in the world within our communities. Our kids have all the tools needed to be successful and make the world a better place.
Maple Grove Rotary and Haiti Outreach have partnered together to help provide funding for schools and fresh water for the people in Haiti who have always had a difficult time but have not yet recovered from the earthquake two years ago.
Please help! Thank you my friend!
ps: it truly is a wee bit nipply out there! brrr!
