Your financial help makes it possible for me to befriend, serve and love the homeless and hurting with the gospel of Christ.
In Matthew 25, Jesus tells us that whatever we have done for the least of these brothers of his, we have done for him. Every time we give food to a hungry brother, we've fed him. Every time we've put a coat on the body of a cold sister, we've clothed him.
I want to love other people better by loving Christ the most. I love Christ by loving the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the lonely, the outcast. My deeds to the poor do not earn me God's love or his favor. He already loves me perfectly. Likewise, my good deeds do not earn me any type of salvation, but the way that I love the poor shows me how much I love God. I really want to love God because he has loved me so well.
JSBC's Hope for Louisville Team is an amazing community of Christian young adults who want the same thing. They don't come with PHD's in mental health or decades of life experience. They are 18-30 year olds who simply show up day after day and keep expecting God to do what he always does - change everything.
Jefferson Street Baptist Center exists to extend gospel-centered mercy to the homeless and hurting of the greater Louisville, KY area.
