Jewish Eco Seminars

In the past year, Jewish Eco Seminars has succeeded in the following ways:

• Developed eight modules linking modern Israel to Jewish values and environmental issues
• Formed a faculty team of eight top Jewish environmental educators
• Delivered Israel-focused Jewish environmental programming to over 700 people, including 100 rabbis, rabbinical students, and Jewish educators
• Raised over $12,000 in donations and pledges, including $5,000 from the ROI Innovation Fund
• Hired a director of a Spanish-speaking branch, and worked with four interns
• Partnered with other Jewish-environmental organizations in various programs
• Scheduled our first module with a Birthright group, for a January 2011 Shorashim trip

2011 Objectives:

• Teacher Training: Connect a cohort of dynamic Jewish environmental educators based in Israel and North America to institutions that either already train Jewish educators or that seek for their teachers in-service and pre-service professional development on teaching Judaism and the environment;

• Provide professional development training and educational materials on Judaism and the environment for 200 educators who will reach 2000 participants;

• Direct Programming: Delivered Israel-focused Jewish environmental programming to over 1000 people, including Birthright groups, synagogue missions, Federation delegations, and MASA programs.
