The Jewish Community Foundation helps build the East Bay Jewish community – and we help East Bay Jews make the difference they want to make.
The Foundation manages over 200 donor-advised funds, supporting family foundations and designated funds, representing over $80 million in assets under management, that contribute to the growth and well-being of people in many communities, starting here in the East Bay.
Donor Advised Funds and Supporting Foundations:
More than 100 donors have established grantmaking funds at the Foundation. Invested in our endowment investment pool for long-term growth, these funds distribute grants to organizations that donors specify. They are also vehicles for family philanthropy, as donors can involve their children and grandchildren in their charitable decision-making.
We help individuals and families make charitable giving a meaningful part of their estate planning - so they can leave a legacy to the community, regardless of their means. With Create a Jewish Legacy, the Foundation is helping 13 East Bay Jewish organizations cultivate legacy gifts from their donors, with the goal of building permanent endowments.
Endowments and designated funds:
The Foundation has over 48years of experience establishing and managing permanent endowments and other long-term funds that provide present and future funding for the community. Currently the foundation houses funds benefiting 20 Jewish organizations and numerous fields of interest such scholarships, Jewish special learning needs, Holocaust remembrance and connections with Israel. These funds are created through current gifts and legacy gifts such as bequests.
All funds are invested in a professionally managed, diversified balanced portfolio. Our Investment Monitoring Committee is composed of investment professionals and others with a solid and broad knowledge of investment management. The committee retains an outside investment consultant to review performance and make recommendations on investment allocations and managers.
Commitment to the community:
With its partner the Jewish Federation of the East Bay, The Jewish Community Foundation is focused on the Jewish community's long-term well-being and growth. We engage similarly focused, top-notch volunteers and professionals to fulfill that mission. The Jewish Community Foundation is not just a place for sound charitable investments - it is an investment in the Jewish community itself.
