"Thanks so much to everyone who has donated since the last fundraiser in the spring/summer of 2012. Last year we raised $1,345 which was enough for one scholarship. I'm hoping this year (2013) we'll be able to raise enough for at least two! When the scholarship recipients are announced, it feels awfully good to know you've contributed to a child's further education.

GRAMMY nominated and eight time Native American Music Award winner Jana Mashonee is very dedicated to helping Native Youth in any way she can. Jana gives back to her Native community by helping Native youth believe in themselves and their ability to achieve their goals. With her Jana’s Kids Foundation, Jana has found the way to accomplish this by awarding Native Youth educational scholarships in three categories; academic, artistic and athletic, one of the few scholarship programs of its kind. Every year, Jana’s Kids Foundation solicits applications from high school students in the US and Canada and three young adults are awarded these scholarships to aid them in achieving their dreams.

In her travels around the country, Jana has met with and listened to thousands of Native youth. Their strong support is what is making Jana's special work so successful. Jana's Native Youth Motivational Presentation has become the most successful presentation of its kind in the country. Her unique blend of music, dance and motivational speaking is reaching young people everywhere.

Jana addresses the issues of cultural pride and identity, motivation and ambition, education, alcohol abuse, tobacco and drug awareness, and gang association. She proactively involves her audiences in this extraordinary interactive presentation. Music, lecture, questions, answers, and demonstrations are the main components of this educational, entertaining, and motivational program.

Jana's Kids is now raising funds to offer scholarships to Native American youth for academic, artistic, and athletic achievement as part of the program's 2012 educational initiative.

It is Jana's mission to help provide Native youth the resources to achieve their dreams.

Proceeds from the sales of Jana’s NAMMY winning Song of the Year “A Change is Gonna Come” go to Jana’s Kids to support scholarship awards as does part of the proceeds from Jana’s book “American Indian Story – The Adventure’s of Sha’kona.”

Jana's Kids is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that benefits Native Youth. All contributions are tax-deductible.
