It Takes A Community...

The after-school programs have been a visible and viable part of the KIDS PLUS organization since its inception in 1998. Girl Power! is a fun and educational empowerment program for girls in grades 4-9, to discover what the world has to offer and learn how to achieve their goals. Open Gym provides 4-12th grade students with communication and teamwork skills, while engaging youth in healthy group activities. Creative Expressions provides students with many different views of art and culture, such as ceramics, drawing, painting, knitting, beadwork and much more. The after-school programs have made a significant and documented impact throughout the past 9 years in providing an opportunity to increase academic, social, creative, leadership, and physical skills in a child. AGE to age is a new initiative bringing elders, adults and youth together to strengthen relationships and engage in healthy activities in the community. Youth Leadership is a dedicated, hard working group of 7-12th grade students, focused on environmental strategies as a way of creating change in the community. Students present to community leaders on local policies to reduce underage alcohol use and create a media campaign based on Positive Community Norms.
