Israel Mission Trip 2012

Last summer, I sat in church hearing about a service trip that some members of my church took to Israel. Up until last year, the Israel trips were mostly for educational purposes and even though I would have loved to go, I really wanted to serve the people and not simply see the historical sites.

As I heard the leader tell of the opportunities to work with an existing Christian organization and the things they got to do among the Muslin people, I sat in the seat and wept. I knew at that moment I was supposed to go, and tonight...January 1st, I got a call saying that I was on the team. Needless to say I am thrilled and know this is God's direction for this summer.

The dates for the trip will be June 18-28. I will be doing various service projects in several locations, and working with an existing organization. Last year the team was allowed to enter a school and bring school supplies to the children. This was huge! While there, they also were allowed to meet with teachers and leaders and tell about their faith in Jesus, and we are hoping for the same opportunities this year.

I have been trying to raise money by selling jams and jellies, but as there are very few opportunities to set up at craft shows in the winter season, I still need to fund raise.
