Everyone Deserves a Bed and a Meal
I am very excited to announce that I am looking to complete my first full Ironman race.
This November, I will be heading to Tempe, Arizona to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles. This is a very big and important goal for me. It allows me to challenge my body and mind in ways i have never been challenged. It also allows me to focus my energy on raising money for an incredible cause - Haley House.
Haley House has been around for over 45 years. The place is incredible. The story of what Kathe McKenna has done over the years is truly inspiring. I am so impressed with how many people Haley House impacts every year. I also know how difficult this venture has been for Kathe and how much time, energy and money she needs to keep this cause alive. Please help me support Kathe and the Haley House by donating today.
Here is some background about Haley House:
Haley House is a trim and feisty non-profit (all donations are tax deductible) that is fast approaching its fiftieth year. What is most remarkable about us is our multifaceted presence in the communities we touch. In addition to all of our direct services to those in need such as our soup kitchen, elder meal, clothing room and food pantry, we provide 110 units of beautiful, low-income housing in the South End of Boston. Our social enterprise Bakery Cafe brings healthy, delicious food to those trapped in a food desert. Take Back the Kitchen gives young people the experience of cooking and the knowledge of what foods will ensure their well-being. Our Transitional Employment Program is the opportunity for those returning from prison to become the valued, productive citizens for which they have prepared. Growing Fresh produce in the middle of the city is our newest initiative, translating what we have learned at our 25 year-old biodynamic Noonday Farm.
Challenging the attitudes and structures that perpetuate suffering is our foundational mission and food with purpose is our path. Please visit our website for more information. http://www.haleyhouse.org/
