Donate to Christie's legacy at Peace House. Christie cared for the poor, sick and homeless here.

Christie Sandstad (Hageman) Left the party early after outsmarting ovarian cancer for 14 years. At her side were husband of 39 years, Doug and kids, Will, Heidi, Nora (Nate) and first grandchild Henry. Mourning the loss are parents Ann and Will Hageman, brothers Jim, Tim; sisters Mary, Gail, Joie, Margret, Andrea, their 16 children and 4 grandchildren; mother-in-law, Patricia Sandstad and Doug's brothers Ken and Reed; sisters Jane, Peggy and Donna Pat; their 7 children and 8 grandchildren. After nursing school in Minneapolis she began a 42-year career as an RN and APRN in psychiatry, widely respected in the mental health field from Minnesota to Bozeman, MT. She spent most of her long career caring for homeless adults and children. A splendid listener, many people sought her counsel and valued it at work and home. Beyond work, her passions included her family, travel, hiking, Yellowstone and Glacier Nat'l Park, quilting and knitting, politics, peace, reading, dogs and canoeing. She was a beautiful, smart and sensitive woman with "joie de vive". Memorials to: Ovarian Cancer Survivors Foundation, 416 Coventry Court, Helena, MT 59601 or Peace House, 510 East Franklin Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55404.
