Your gift helps Illusion Theater support its nationally recognized Peer Education Model, develop new work, and provide a home for artists.
Since its founding in 1974, Illusion Theater's producing directors Michael Robins and Bonnie Morris have led it in illuminating the illusions, myths, and realities of our times while catalyzing personal and social change.
Over the past four decades, Illusion Theater has generated more than 500 plays, developed thousands of artists, and created ground-breaking educational works. Productions have been staged in theaters throughout the world and have catalyzed conversations in living rooms, kitchens, coffee houses, and board rooms while leading to transformations in policy, organizations, students, and individuals.
Meanwhile, Illusion Theater's nationally recognized Peer Education Program offers students an opportunity to participate in theater arts education while encouraging them to explore and understand social issues — including bullying, conflict resolution, healthy eating and the prevention of sexual abuse — with an immediate impact in their lives. For more than 25 years, this unique, innovative and award-winning program has helped deliver critical messages and has resulted in a repertory of more than 20 plays.
Illusion Theater is based in downtown Minneapolis.
"Our association with Illusion Theater has made us better teachers, our students better learners, and opened a whole new world of live drama to our families." ~ Rea Cornelius, Literacy Coach, John A. Johnson Achievement Plus Elementary
"The compelling script and the strong performances don't yield to a pat ending in director Michael Robins' hands. He holds onto the shadow within the hope of the story, leaving us haunted by the characters and the themes after the lights come up." ~ St. Paul Pioneer Press
"I loved that nothing was off limits in this play. No censorship and speaking the truth — that's what makes a great play. The Illusion does this wonderfully!" ~ high school student
