I am running my first marathon in order to feed hungry children in Nicaragua. Will you help me please?
All children should have food to eat!
There are kids who don't eat every day. There are kids who are sent to work instead of school to help feed their families. ORPHANetwork's feeding center partners feed more than 11,000 hungry children per day. Because of that they are healthier (they get medical check ups as well), and they can go to school instead of work. Food plus education doesn't answer all the problems but it is a great start.
I'm running a marathon in March as a response to the kids I've met, the parents I've met and the amazing Nicaraguan people who are working hard to feed, clothe, educate and inspire a generation of kids to live better, healthier more fulfilling lives.
Running physically reminds me of the pain of hunger. No child should have to endure that and no parent should have to cry themself to sleep because they can't feed their children. I have sworn not to forget the people I have met and to do something about it. This is what I've come up with this year.
It takes $17 to feed a child for a month, that is $204 for a full year of food and medical care. Would you join me in feeding children who will not eat everyday without our response?
Go big if you can! $2,040 will feed 10 kids for a year. That is money well spent. Probably 1/3 of your yearly Verizon/AT&T bill.
Anyway, I'll update you on the progress as this goes on, I'll honor your giving by working my butt off training and with my giving as well, and www.orphanetwork will honor your gift by delivering great food, medicine and inspiration.
If this goes well at least 50 kids lives will be forever impacted for the better. And maybe we will be changed for the better as well.
Thanks for reading this, considering joining in and for giving!
(by the way, I can run 14 miles right now, which is just 12.2 short of what it is going to take. not sure how i feel about that!)
