Mentoring works! Help me reach my goal so that many more underserved youth in New York City can be connected to caring mentors.

Dear Friends & Family:

As many of you may know, I volunteer for an amazing organization called iMentor. I have been matched with Mariah, a high school Junior from South Bronx, whose number one priority is to graduate high school and attend college for photography. Mariah is very unique - she is a very inspiring individual who, despite living in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in NYC and having to overcome a number of difficult life situations, has been able to look toward her future and really focus on the importance of a higher education.

A little more about iMentor - iMentor connects New York City professionals with high school students from low-income communities, creating the foundation and support for high-impact mentoring relationships. The success of iMentor is demonstrated by the fact that 92% of eligible mentees graduated from high school after the 2009 program year (compared to New York City’s average graduation rate of 60.7%), and 82% enrolled in college. This year alone, iMentor will match 1,200 young people with 1,200 mentors in New York City – connecting professionals seeking a meaningful volunteer commitment with the young people who benefit so significantly from mentoring relationships. In order to do this we need your help. I know that times are tough for everyone but if you are looking to donate to a worthy cause, here it is. Even if you can only give $5, every little bit counts and will give another teen-ager this WONDERFUL opportunity!
