iMentor -- Joe Melillo's Donor Drive Page

I have volunteered as a mentor with iMentor for over ten years. This makes me the longest-reigning mentor in all of iMentor, and I've been with them longer than just about anyone else on the planet in any capacity. I point this out only to demonstrate how important iMentor is to me.

I found iMentor at a time when I was looking for an opportunity to do something with my life that had a real lasting positive effect. At first, I chose to get involved with them because there wasn't a huge time commitment on my part. The mentoring took place mostly on e-mail, and that's where I spent (and still spend) most of my time!! I didn't realize, though, until the end of the school year, that just being there to lend a sympatheitc and experienced ear would have such a profound effect on the life of a high school student! How do I know that? Just ask my mentee!!

To this day, iMentor is the most important thing I do with my life. It's more important than my job or my pursuit of superstardom, because it's the only thing I do that results in real good being done in the world. I may switch jobs, and my efforts at achieving superstardom wax and wane, but I'll be involved with iMentor for the rest of my life!

Anything you can contribute to help iMentor help even more high school students will be greatly appreciated, and will mean real positive change in the lives of high school students!!
