We are looking to raise needed funds to support technology at Highland View Elementary School.
We are a group of dedicated parents, teachers and administrators looking to raise $30,000 in needed funds to support technology at Highland View Elementary School. Our mission is to support Highland View Elementary School’s appeal for technology equipment to support curriculum delivery and instruction.
The Highland View Elementary School Parent Teacher Association (HVES PTA) has launched a Fundraising Campaign entitled Just Ask. This is our attempt to ask local community members, businesses, families and friends to support our efforts to raise needed funding for technology.
Montgomery County Public Schools is introducing a new web-based curriculum for the primary grades, but with the downturn in the economy, is not able to adequately supply all of its schools with upgraded technology in a timely fashion. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, HVES PTA has chosen to launch a campaign to help this shortfall. We seek to raise $30,000 to purchase laptops, LCD monitors and document cameras (ELMO) for our academic staff. We ask that you help us with our goal by sponsoring HVES with a tax-deductible contribution.
Highland View Elementary School is unique within the Montgomery County Public School system and is easily overlooked. We are a small, neighborhood school, with less than 400 students in grades Kindergarten through Fifth. Roughly 50% of our student population qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch program; and of the remaining 50% of the families, many are single income families whose budgets are slim. Furthermore, 40% of our student community has English as their second language, with more than 10% of our academic staff dedicated to English as a Second Language (ESOL) enrichment for our largely African and Hispanic immigrant population. Despite these high numbers, we do not qualify for the Title 1 status and do not benefit from additional funding associated with a high-needs school. This is why our school community seeks your support.
We want to make technology accessible for all of our children.
