Hi. I wish to donate ~50% of my gross earnings over the next 3 years to Asheville, NC’s homeless initiative. BUT I need your help please.
Hi. I wish to donate approximately 50% of my gross earnings as an accountant over the next three years (June 2013 through May 2016) to Asheville, NC’s homeless initiative. BUT I need your help please.
My goal is to raise a minimum of $37,500 a year for three years for a total of $112,500 to help ensure Asheville, NC has eradicated homelessness by their planned deadline of 2015. These monies will go to Homeward Bound of Asheville, which supports Asheville’s homeless initiative and offers a breadth of homeless services. In exchange, I will work for you as an accountant for a year if you win the auction (see How To Get Involved below). With $10,000 Homeward Bound can get a homeless person into permanent housing for a year. This three year annual donation amount would take 11 homeless people off the streets and provide them permanent housing for a year. Homeward Bound is able to accomplish that much for 11 people with just $112,500. That is an efficient use of resources towards eradicating homelessness in Asheville, NC!
Thank you for your support! If you have any questions or suggestions please contact me. Read on to learn more.
How To Get Involved
Way #1 - Talk it up! Social media, in-person, e-mail, and blogs. Tell friends, family, co-workers, your employer, and networking events. Get TV and radio to help get the word out.
Way #2 - Make a donation (you can also donate items or time (see links below)
Way #3 - Participate in the auction (see link below)
Way #4 - Donate something else, e.g. help me move, bus pass, Netflix subscription, cell phone service, gym membership, utility service, housing, or other. Please contact me with your idea(s). Note: If a tax deduction is important to you, this type of donation will not count.
I have been wanting to give back, and yesterday (May 13th) it came to me! Asheville-Buncombe County’s (NC) 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness is only about 2.5 years away now. The plan completion date is 2015. I am an accountant. Every individual and business has a use for my services whether it is income tax preparation, financial planning, managing the finances of a business, installing or fixing accounting software, using Excel, etc. I thought how can I turn my talents into support for the homeless initiative. Well, if I lived a minimalist lifestyle I would have more disposable income. And I would be willing to donate 100% of my disposable income after paying for a minimalist lifestyle to support the homeless initiative for the next 3 years (I rounded up from the remaining 2.5 year completion date.). But then I wondered how this would draw attention to the cause and get others involved. That is when the final form of my fundraising campaign was born. I’ll encourage any individual or business to become involved and make a difference. As an incentive you (instead of me) will receive the charitable tax deduction receipt and/or the use of my accounting skills for a year.
Who am I?
I wish to remain anonymous and ask all to respect my wishes. The point of this is to draw attention to Asheville-Buncombe County’s (NC) 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness and partner agencies like Homeward Bound of Asheville, Inc. not me. Thank you.
Why did I select the agency partner Homeward Bound of Asheville, Inc.?
Because of their support of the Asheville homeless initiative, breadth of homeless services, and success.
