HOME Line provides legal, organizing, education and advocacy services so that tenants throughout Minnesota can solve their own problems.
Celebrating 22 Years of Service
HOME Line's tenant hotline began in 1992, serving the suburbs of Hennepin County and has since expanded to cover the entire state of Minnesota (including Minneapolis now, with a low fee service).
In total, the hotline has helped over 158,000 rental households, helped to prevent over 11,660 evictions, and helped renters recover nearly $21 million in wrongfully withheld deposits or rent abatements.
Since 1997, HOME Line has helped preserve more than 8,000 units of affordable housing. We have also adapted our organizing work with renters to prevent the loss of affordable market-rate housing and to respond to emergency and substandard housing situations.
HOME Line has influenced a variety of legislation through building tenant leadership into local, state, and federal efforts. Some of our most recent successes include the passage of a Tenant Bill of Rights in 2010 and protection of the Renter's Credit--a property tax program designed to keep MN taxes balanced.
