HUGH OBRIAN YOUTH FOUNDATION

The Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership program of South Dakota is a child organization of HOBY International. We engage high school students in leadership development programs primarily through a summer leadership seminar. During the seminar, the youth are taught leadership skills focusing on individual, group, and societal leadership. Additionally, they are challenged to put that learning in action through HOBY's Leadership for Service (L4S) program. During the seminar, the youth engage ina 5-6 hour service-learning project, and are challenged to identify issues in their home communities and commit to performing 100 hours of service towards those issues in the coming years. Following the inaugural seminar, the participants engage in alumni activities and have the opportunity to come back as a mentor in future years.

Our youth in South Dakota have gone on to do extraordinary things, and become outstanding leaders in their homes, schools, and communities. Further, the volunteers who engage in our program gain leadership skills as well. HOBY truly is a life-long leadership organization.
