Each month Mary makes the choice to purchase her medications and pay her utility bills, leaving very little from her $500 social security check for food. The 20 lb bag of non-perishable items she receives from Helping Hands of Vegas Valley each month helps her make the $15 in food assistance she receives stretch. This bag of food, worth about $33 is just what she needs to stay healthy. The rides she takes with Helping Hands also contribute to her maintaining her health because she can get to her medical appointments.

Las Vegas attracts many who are over 60 looking for an active retirement lifestyle that our community offers. Unfortunately, retirees may move away from their support system that may have assisted them as they grew older. As they age they may encounter sickness or age-related conditions that prevent them from being as independent as they would like. Our programs are designed to ensure that our clients have access to services that will aid them in remaining healthy and independent.

Helping Hands of Vegas Valley offers free services (transportation, respite care vouchers and a low income qualified food pantry) to help seniors remain independent in their own homes.
