What if YOU could bring hope to returning soldiers and their families at Christmas?

THE NEED –There is a surge of new, young veterans and active-duty soldiers coming home. Weary soldiers return to a joyful homecoming, only to see their marriage and families split apart. A few facts to consider:

• More than one million children will have a parent deployed in 2011.
• One out of five military marriages falls apart within two years when one spouse has been deployed. This rate is escalating at an alarming rate.

THE SOLUTION – Stronger Families is dedicated to driving down the divorce rate within the military by providing couples with the training and support they need to strengthen their marriage during separations and other demanding times. We do this through our marriage-saving program, Oxygen, a program that delivers practical hope and help to marriages in need.

We’ve already delivered Oxygen to more than 600 military couples this year. And it’s working!

“When I returned from my second deployment, I was shocked to find so many marriages in my unit ending in divorce. Three soldiers in the midst of their deployments advised me they’d be getting a divorce. When they got back, I urged the soldiers and their wives to attend the Oxygen seminar and agree to some follow-up sessions with me before divorcing. Since then, all three couples have taken divorce papers off the table and are committed and working on their marriage.” – Chaplain Rick Pak at JBLM

YOUR OPPORTUNITY – More than 500 soldiers are returning to Joint Base Lewis-McChord by December 31st and their leadership has asked us to provide them the Oxygen program. With your help, we can meet the needs of these soldiers and their families! That’s why we’ve created the Heroes at Home Campaign. Our goal is to raise $50,000 between now and December 31st. Every dollar raised will have a direct impact by helping us serve these couples who are in need of Oxygen.
