The Lauter family is going to Cambodia in December! While there we will be volunteering at a school. Will you please Help Us Help Them?
Jennifer is turning 50 in December. To celebrate, Larry said, "Where do you want to go? Anywhere in the world (within reason)."
After much research and deliberation, we settled on Cambodia and Vietnam. We leave on December 10th and will be traveling for 5 1/2 weeks. The girls will be doing their homework on the road.
One of the most exciting parts of our journey is the week we will be volunteering at a school near Siem Reap. We will work with a wonderful non-profit that helps ensure that all kids are able to attend school.
"Many impoverished children in rural Cambodia don’t have access to adequate funds to procure uniforms, shoes and their school supplies in order to attend primary school. The Ponheary Ly Foundation provides these “school bundles” to children who would otherwise not be going to school.
Once all the children from a village are present at their school and properly equipped, the PLF supports the school sufficiently to provide a quality of education that is equal to that which is accessible in the urban communities."
Our fundraising goal is to raise enough money to take a group of kids on a field trip, purchase some extra food for the school and bring some hard-to-come-by supplies with us.
Please Help Us Help Them.
We plan to hand-carry some supplies with us. We will be able to bring about 75-100 pounds of supplies in our luggage. If you would rather donate supplies, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will tell you how.
