Dear Family and Friends,
It is time once again, and the last time, for me to start to share the information about my Builders Beyond Borders trip! This year we are going to Guyana! If you have never heard of Builders Beyond Borders (“B3”) before it is an amazing organization that sends high school students to different parts of the world that are suffering and in need. In the past years Builders Beyond Borders has helped people in Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, and our last years trip to Nicaragua. This year we are planning to build a Community Center, in a town called Bethany, which will greatly improve their way of living. B3 is an amazing group and I am really looking forward to be a part of it yet again this year and for the last time.
Bethany is located in an area known as the Essequibo Coast on the Supenaam Creek in the northwestern part of Guyana. It covers about 17 square miles and is home to about 500 with less than 100 homes. This town is surrounded by water and to get from one place to another you must paddle by boat or canoe. The community is in need of a center that could be used by the entire community for workshops, literacy training, cultural events, job skills, medical clinics, etc. Builders Beyond Borders will partner with Food for the Poor to construct such a community center.
The reason I am writing to you is because we need to raise our own money to be able to go on this trip to support our traveling expenses, as well as funding for the materials, supplies and tools we will need to build the bridge. Overall I have to raise $2,750 by December 15th by getting donations and I am also putting a great portion of the money I have earned in work towards this.
I would be very thankful if you could help out by supporting my involvement in B3. If you would like to generously contribute, please donate right on this website! All donations are tax deductible and will directly contribute to help the trip to Nicaragua in April 2013. Builders Beyond Borders in a non-profit organization and if you would like to learn more about this fantastic group please visit their website at www.buildersbeyondborders.org.
Thank you very much!
