Support Seeing Eye puppies who will one day guide people who are blind. #GivingTuesday.
We’re asking you to support two puppies who were named by last year’s #GivingTuesday supporters: A male yellow Labrador retriever named Hero and a female black Lab named Gale. In January, Gale, Hero and their littermates will return to The Seeing Eye for four months of intensive training to prepare them for their new lives as Seeing Eye dogs for people who are blind or visually impaired.
Our Goal: We hope to raise $10,000, which represents a portion of the cost to train Gale and Hero before they can be matched with their new owners. Your donation will help support our mission to prepare dogs like Gale and Hero who will one day provide someone who is blind with the independence to live their lives and pursue their dreams.
The Backstory: A little over a year ago, Molly, a black Labrador retriever, and Hettie, a yellow Lab, delivered their 11 Seeing Eye puppies by flashlight in the immediate aftermath of Super Storm Sandy. For the last year, this group of specially-bred puppies has been thriving in the homes of their volunteer Seeing Eye puppy raisers where they have been learning basic manners and receiving lots of love and attention.
