Katrina is teaming up with Reach Potential at Monta Loma School in Mountain View to help under-resourced kindergarteners read!
I’m partnering with Reach Potential to support a local Elementary to help kindergarteners read! My campaign goal is to raise $400 so This amoint will give Kindergarten families at Monta Loma School a chance to participate in an event that includes parent education session on how to help their child read, an interactive activity as a family, a Tool to take home to help language development at home, and 5 books to begin or grow their own book collection! In addition their parents will receive a parent education workshop to help their child succeed!
Any amount you can contribute makes a difference!
At one of Reach Potential literacy projects, Pablo said with wide open eyes, “Para mi?!” (“For me?!”) . He said it with regard to his very own bookshelf and the favorite books he picked out at the event, and he said it as if he couldn’t believe it was his to keep -- as if he didn’t know what he had done to deserve it, but that he was elated to receive it nonetheless.
At each school we hear the same vision-- helping a child LEARN TO READ in their kindergarten through third grade years empowers them to READ TO LEARN for the rest of their lives. As a listening partner to educators, we have designed our “Magic Box” Literacy project that brings under-resourced Mountain View and Sunnyvale families to their child’s school to make a take-home tool together that supports literacy at home, to attend a parent & kids’ workshop, and to “shop” for free books.
