Please help us to reopen our beloved basecamp in Mazama, WA so we can continue to inspire, humor and challenge!
I started instructing wilderness trips for the Mazama Outward Bound School 5 years ago when Josh and I moved into a tent in a wide-open field in a state far away from my native New York. 3 months later, we bought a log cabin 6 miles from basecamp in this magnificant jewel called Mazama.
I love leading Outward Bound courses with one student from inner-city L.A., another from London, two from New England and one from the Bronx. I love watching a motley group from across the globe tranform into a family by carrying heavy packs 15 miles a day. I love hearing a student marvel at the starry night sky and say they have never seen a star before. I love comparing blisters with my students and laughing over our mosquito bites. I love Outward Bound.
Using the outdoors as a classroom, Outward Bound provides learning opportunities in remote wilderness areas to strengthen character, build leadership skills, inspire compassion, and help create an ethic of social and environmental responsibility.
Every donation counts, and every donation goes directly to reopening the Washington Program and Mazama basecamp. Your donations fund our expsenses to get going -- we cannot serve our students without vehicles, gear, electricity and we cannot serve our students without your help!
Thank you! Namaste! Shalom! Toda-Raba!
