GYGIG's multi-day cycling events help to raise awareness of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and raise funds for research and support

In 2008 I was lucky enough to meet a very energetic and enigmatic person, fellow cyclist and now good friend, Linnea VanTassel. Linnea lost her husband a few years prior to ulcerative colitis. Since then she has participated 9 GYGIG rides and serves on the board of directors.

I became involved by riding the NY ride in 2009, part of Team Focus for NY 2010 and now again in 2012. My mother Rosalie Walker has now also joined the cause, volunteering for the crew in 2010 and again this year. Together we are hoping to help make a difference in the lives of people who suffer with these diseases.

1.4 million Americans have IBD, incurable and chronic diseases. My own IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) is a hiccup compared to what these individuals live with and overcome.

Cycling along side of someone who has Crohn's or colitis is truly heroic.

Help me with your support for this great cause!
