HBDA is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals in Alabama affected with bleeding disorders and their families.

Through programs and services such as Camp Clot Not and Camp Harvest, HBDA strives to provide Alabamians affected with bleeding disorders with education, advocacy and support.

Camp Clot Not is a camp specifically designated for children ages 6-18 who have been diagnosed with a bleeding disorder or are carriers. During the week of camp, children are encouraged to take the lead in administration of their medication and are also educated on the many treatment options available for their care. Leadership and group activities provide children with the ability to manage their lives and healthcare with confidence. Camp is provided free of charge to families within the bleeding disorder community.

Camp Harvest is a family-oriented weekend that encourages participation of affected and non-affected people within the bleeding disorders community. By fostering quality family togetherness, our members learn how to cope with the difficulties of having a chronic disease. This weekend is provided free of charge to our members and their families as one of our main resources of education.

As the only Alabama organization dedicated to those with Hemophilia and von Willebrand's disease, HBDA provides its members opportunities to share their stories with other families, encourages members of the bleeding disorders community to be independent in their healthcare choices and medicine adminstration, and advocates for the community through legislation.

Donations raised through fundraising events dramatically impact our community. In order to continue to provide these programs and services, we depend on donations from the general public. Please donate today!

HBDA has become the voice of families and individuals affected by bleeding disorders in Alabama. How incredible is that? In less than 7 years WE have all come together for each other and for those who will be born into our special community. HBDA is providing the support, education, advocacy and fellowship that every family dealing with a special need, requires to maintain a healthy and "normal" life. I want to personally thank everyone eho has given of their time or of the resources to make HBDA what it is. And I want to extend my gratitude to the staff (Vicki, Sarah and Mandi) for doing so much more than their jobs. They truly love our children. That makes my sons' life even better; and that means everything to me!
