This Mothers' Day, honor your mom by helping another.

Please join us in celebrating Mothers' Day this year by honoring those women in the barrio who are actively and increasingly supportive of their children's education.

We're seeing an increasing trend of mothers involved and engaged in supporting their children's school work, and they're really proud of what their children have achieved so far. This is a real measure of the success of the EI program - only a few years ago it was difficult to convince the families that their kids attending school was worth the lost income from them not being able to work in the streets.

As a tribute, we've put together a slide show showing some of these women (see above). And if you're looking for a way to honor your own mother or grandmother, how about making a small donation in her name? After doing so, please do leave a dedication to her in the comments. ...Make a difference to your mom by making a difference to another... Or alternatively, if you already sponsor a student in our program how about leaving a small donation in honor of their mother? We'll put the money towards our home visits program, which provide help and support to all the family in order to keep their kids in school.

As always, THANK YOU for your support. It makes such a difference.

About child sponsorship:
Child sponsorship is a great way to make a direct different in a child's life. You provide not only financial support, but also strength and motivation to the child through their knowledge that someone cares about their well-being. You can opt to sponsor a child by making $30 monthly donations (or a single $360 donation for the year). "Padrinos" receive information about the child, including biographical information, photo, letters from the child, and updates. You may also write letters to your sponsor child if you wish. We also offer the option to sponsor "half" a child for $15 per month. If you select this option you will still receive information, updates, and a letter from the child. If you're sponsoring a child as a gift to your mom we can send her the information - just let us know to whom (and which address) you'd like the information sent.

Thank you so much EI for the continued awesome work you are doing for the community of Granada. I know my mother will cherish this gift more than anything I could "buy" in a store. Keep up the great work!

EI is one of 4 great organizations that I support in Nicaragua. The work EI is doing for the school kids in the barrio helps ensure a better future for those children and for their country. These days, with the world so interconnected as it's become, I believe that the well being of the poorest among us is tied to our own well being like never before. I'm glad to help EI's children thrive so that we can all continue to thrive.
