I am running the Disney Marathon and raising money along the way to help children struggling with cancer. Please help me reach my goal!
Running used to be a chore for me. You sweat, you get tired, it hurts - who really wants that?
But, I forced myself to keep trying. Each time I laced up my shoes, it became more clear how much of a gift running is. It makes you free. It helps you find your limits, so you can push past them. It makes everyday struggles seem a little less difficult.
Running by itself is fulfilling, but when you run with a purpose, you find strength you never knew you had.
Soon after I moved to Fort Myers, I was lucky enough to meet Rob and Monique Whan of Caleb's Crusade. They began the organization in honor of their son Caleb, who passed away from leukemia just days after his 4th birthday. He loved Spiderman and had a smile that could light up a room.
When we wake up at 5:00 a.m. to train, when we're dragging ourselves through mile 23, when we feel like we can't take one more step, we remember Caleb. We're running for him.
On January 13, 2013, the team and I will run the Disney Marathon. In addition to training, my goal is to raise at least $850 for Caleb's Crusade. Your donation will fund childhood cancer research and help children and families affected by childhood cancers cope with everyday expenses incurred during treatment and relocation. Every dollar you give will help make a child's life a little bit easier.
Running 26.2 miles is tough, but it's nothing compared to what kids struggling with cancer go through every day. They would give anything to be able to go outside and run around. I hope you'll help my team and I reach our goal!
