This fundraiser's purpose is to raise money for my community service trip to Guyana with Builders Beyond Borders
This February, I will be taking a community service trip to Guyana in association with Builders Beyond Borders, a Norwalk, CT based organization that has provided students like me a chance to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate for decades. My parents are not allowed to pay for any part of this trip, I have to raise every dollar.
Please consider donating, you will be helping me as well as those who I am building for.
B3 began in 1993 as a small group of 29 students known as Kingdom Builders led by Jeri and John Skinner. By 2001, the organization became known officially as Builders Beyond Borders, receiving its 501 (c)(3) not for profit status the following year. At this time, the organization, with its newly formed Board of Directors, made the decision to focus on both local and global community service projects. In 2007, the Skinners retired from B3 after seeing it grow to include over 300 students from 20 area high schools. Today, B3 continues to work locally and globally contributing over 20,000 hours of service each year through its student and adult efforts.
Builders Beyond Borders has worked with communities to build much needed projects in Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, and Tobago.
About My Project-
All teams will be working in one of five locations along the coast line of Guyana. The projects and locations represent the variety of needs of Guyana as well as the rich cultural diversity found in the country.
Six teams will be working in Amerindian villages while the other three will be working in mixed Afro-Guyanese and Indo-Guyanese communities.
About My Run-
This Thanksgiving, I will be running the 5 mile Turkey Trot road race in Southport, CT to raise money for my community service project. I have run this race every year for the past 5 years. This year, I aim to finish in around 35 minutes.
