Green Gecko Manhattan Scavenger Hunt 2010

Last year 60 friends got together & ran all over Manhattan in search of virtual clues as teams of Buzzing Bees, Fabulous Frogs & more. By popular demand the 2010 Manhattan Scavenger Hunt is fast approaching: SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 25th. Come join us for a day of unique fun, learn nuggets of info you never knew about Manhattan (yes, even you life-long Manhattanites amongst us), get involved in fun tasks (think Amazing Race style) & give something very real back to some amazing Green Gecko kids in Cambodia.

If you're interested you will need: a team captain (please send email & cell number to manhattangecko@gmail.com), team members (6-7 per team, invite your friends), an animal for your team name, one digital camera to record all the clues, comfortable shoes, inquistive minds & a sense of fun & adventure.

We will provide: booklet with clues (from Hunt Maestro Jules), team t-shirts & bundles of fun

Entry fee to be paid online here:

$40 per person if registered by September 10th

$50 per person if registered by September 17th

$60 per person if registered by September 24th

Make sure you allow to 'let Tori Higgins see my email' so you are fully registered and we know you've paid. If you don't, it will come through as 'anonymous' and we won't know who paid.

NB: If you would like to donate more than this amount for Green Gecko kids, please do. Costs above are minimum registration costs. Every single penny goes directly to the Green Gecko Project & is US tax deductable.

GREEN GECKO STORY

Destination 13°25'0"N 103°49'1"E. Otherwise known as Siem Reap, Cambodia. Land of bright colours, monks and temples, tuk-tuks, bicycles and smiles.

I (Tori) have lived in Manhattan for 9 years & first went to Cambodia in 2008 with my family to volunteer with the amazing Green Gecko kids. Working with 70 former street children whose families sent them out on the street at all hours to earn money, they are now all part of the Green Gecko Project which provides them with a safe haven, a chance to play, learn, laugh & for the first time in their lives, be children. These gregarious, fun loving, energy-filled children are soaking up every opportunity they are given, they all attend school, excel in their classes, speak good English and Khmer & are the most joyful, considerate, inquisative souls you could ever wish to meet.

The project was set up by Australian Tania & her Cambodian husband Rem who are the inspiration, brains, ideas & drive behind Green Gecko. 5 years on, they still put every ounce of energy they have into the future & well-being of these children, offering them a real chance to be children for the first time in their lives. They rely completely on donations & every cent, nickel, dime you donate goes towards the kids.
