Crisis Nursery Background

Since 1977, Crisis Nursery Inc., the Valley's longest-serving children's shelter, has provided a safe haven for more than 18,000 children in Greater Phoenix through child-centered and family-focused programs and services.

All of their programs support our mission: to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect by strengthening families and addressing the social, psychological, and developmental needs of each child. Families can turn to us at the beginning of a crisis situation when the opportunity to create lifelong change is greatest.

Crisis Nursery Programs

Children’s Shelter

• Usually a short-term facility for children in difficult situations, but children have stayed in the shelter for over 3 years.
• These children receive a safe place to live with a nurturing staff as well as new clothes, medical attention, educational opportunities & developmental services
• The shelter cared for 505 children last year

FACES – Families and Children Experiencing Success

• Helps pregnant women, new mothers & young children
• Offers free daycare for children that includes meals, education and development programs

Foster Care Program

• For the children from the shelter that are victims of abuse & neglect
• Placed 101 children with foster families last year
• Crisis Nursery runs their own program to train adults to be foster parents
• If the children are not going to return to their original household, Crisis Nursery helps to place them with an adoptive family

Healthy Families Program

• Partners with Southwest Human Development to provide pregnant women & young children with needed medical care and other services

Our Goal

Our number one goal is to help these children. And in order to do this the Quicken Loans – Scottsdale site is raising $25,000 for this amazing organization. We know this is a lofty goal, but we also know that we’ll see it when we believe it.

Why Donate?

The children rely on Crisis Nursery for medical services, social and behavioral services, educational services and crisis counseling. If it was not for Crisis Nursery many of these children would not be able to get out of the unfortunate circumstances they were born into.

What We’re Asking

For you to give what you can. $10 is the minimum donation and if everyone gives $10, it will make a huge difference in these children’s lives. Skip a trip to Starbucks or to the movie theater and donate that money.
