Dear 2nd Grade Families,

We have had a great start to the school year but we need your help to continue to make your child’s learning experience at Spring Glen School as rich as it can be! The 2nd grade teachers are planning a number of exciting field trips this year to supplement and extend the classroom curriculum.

The district does not provide a field trip budget for teachers; parents, through the PTA, pay for all field trips. We are asking you to contribute directly to the field trip fund for your child’s grade. We are sending this appeal in response to input from parents. In surveys conducted in 2010 and 2012, parents indicated a strong preference for making a cash donation instead of selling products to raise funds for field trips.

The field trips/activities proposed for the 2nd Grade class this year include:

Eli Whitney Museum “Balancing Circus” - Cost: $550
TheatreWorks at SCSU “Click Clack Moo” - Cost: $540

In addition, several free or minimal cost field trips are planned including trips to Brooksvale Park, The Hamden Government Center, a classroom activity facilitated by the Whitney Water Center and a school-wide field trip to The British Art Museum at Yale.

Number of 2nd Grade Students: 61

Cost per child: $20 (includes $2 per student to cover miscellaneous/unexpected field trip expenses)

Teachers need to finalize classroom budgets now in order to book the remaining field trips. Please send in your voluntary contribution by completing the form to the right.
