The Power of You
You have the power to transform the world today. How? By giving an amazing group of young Arkansans their first chance to experience it.
Help us bring Global Kids’ Global Gateways Summer Institute to Little Rock this summer. We need a unified, community-wide effort to make it happen, so go 'head and donate now. Then donate again. Then get your family and friends to donate. Then come to our events and get involved!
AND YES! ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE!
Why Global Kids?
Global Kids is America’s premier nonprofit organization for bringing global education and youth development to students in underserved communities. Bringing the Global Gateways program to Little Rock this summer will help young Arkansans become great leaders and social justice advocates to further develop them to be youth leaders for the global stage.
The Global Gateways Summer Institute
Global Kids’ expert staff will give twelve underprivileged high school students from Arkansas the knowledge, skills, experiences and values they need to succeed in school, participate effectively in the democratic process, and become leaders in their communities and on the global stage. Students will learn about global issues, make connections with other leaders, and create change through peer education, social action, digital media, and service learning.
The first two weeks will be in Little Rock. During the final two weeks, the staff will lead the students on service-learning trips to Haiti, Costa Rica, or the Dominican Republic.
Fundraising: Let's Go!!!
Now, with programs like Global Kids, you need money to make it happen. And to pull this off for the summer of 2014*, we need to raise one hundred thousand dollars.
There are 3 main ways in which we are fundraising: 3rd party corporate/foundation partners, events & festivities, and from the people...YOU! (So click that green button on top right…)
Ultimately, we want the entire community to come together to make our kids’ dreams a reality.
*For our initial campaign, we attempted to raise all of the money in a 15 day period to launch the program in the summer of 2013. Although we were able to raise $10,000, a significant amount more was still needed. No problem at all though, as the money carries over and we will simply raise the rest to launch the program in the summer of 2014.*
In July 2012, Piph teamed up with the U.S. State Department to perform, teach hip-hop culture, and create new music to the people of the West African country, The Gambia.. The personal relationships Piph formed with the community, children, and artists while serving as a goodwill ambassador for our country caused a paradigm shift in his thinking and inspired him to do more to make a direct impact on youth at home and abroad. A former college classmate of Piph’s who now works at the United Nations in New York brought Piph and Global Kids together.
On the Horizon
We are in this for the long haul. If we don't meet our $100,000 goal by the end of April, we’ll just keep right on fundraising and bring the Global Gateways Summer Institute to Arkansas in 2014. Then we’ll work on bringing year-round Global Kids programming to Arkansas.
We won’t stop until every child in Arkansas has a fair chance to study abroad and become a leader in the community.
The Next Step
DONATE! Then figure how else you can get involved. Attend an event, volunteer your services, or even send a picture of yourself out the country with a note on how it impacted you. This is a WE thing and WE truly can make a difference, but only if you’re a part of that WE.
