The Giving Circle of Alexandria

The Giving Circle of Alexandria is a group of smart women sharing time, talent and money for the benefit of at-risk children in Alexandria. Our gifts go to programs that prepare Alexandria’s most vulnerable children for success in school and life. This means programs that support parents of children ages 0 through 5, since early intervention is key and the best way to reach young children is through their parents.

We consider our gifts to be an investment in the future of children. Since 2005, the Giving Circle has invested over $350,000 in programs that:

- reach isolated families

- connect parents with the community and other families

- teach parents about childhood milestones, parenting techniques and resources

- provide developmental play activities to children

Past gift recipients include Healthy Families Alexandria, Stop Child Abuse Now, and the Center for Alexandria’s Children.

Right now, our focus is on playgroups. Playgroups have emerged as a promising strategy for reaching more families. There are three playgroups in Alexandria reaching over 200 families operating as a result of our investment and we are evaluating these operations as we consider expanding this program.

We are looking for women who share our goals to invest in the Giving Circle with us. Individual contributions range from $150 to $1000. 100% of your investment goes to the agencies that receive our gifts.
