Songwriting Works restores health, vitality and community through song with people of all ages, abilities, cultural & musical backgrounds.
THANK YOU for your belief in the power of song!
In times of change and challenge, music is a great sustaining force. We saw this in the last months of 2011 as Songwriting Works’ new “Music Teams” brought community members, care givers and music lovers ages 25 to 81 together to become ‘musical instigators.’ They learned Songwriting Works’ approach and the health science behind making music. Together they developed skills and confidence and began bringing the restorative power of song to their families, students, neighbors, and friends.
YOUR SUPPORT at this time help us sustain programming momentum, complete training for professional songwriter-facilitators and record a CD of Olympic Peninsula songs on themes of the sea, family, WWII homecoming and more. Thank you for joining us in our mission to restore health and community through song!
Amidst very real economic hard times, we are at a watershed: Science is confirming the central role music plays in human health–neurologically, biologically, and socially–as well as spiritually. SW is thrilled to be on the forefront of this movement of discovery and empowerment. The ages-old practice of making music together is being recognized as an affordable, and even essential, “innovation” for healing individuals, communities, and society.
Music matters. Songwriting works!
Thank you for helping bring us this far and into the New Year!
