We work to rebuild the lives of homeless dogs, dispel breed myths, promote awareness and inspire others to do the same. We are their voice.
Gemini Rescue consists of a small group of volunteers, very dedicated and determined in our mission to provide homeless dogs a chance at a new life. We specialize in both Pitbulls and Rottweilers. Our work in the last couple of years has become primarily with Pitbulls , a very misunderstood and maligned breed. In fact, they are one of the most neglected and abused breeds in the nation . These dogs, in reality, are extremely resilient and make superb family companions. Since our start in 2000, we have successfully placed nearly 1000 dogs into homes across the US, Canada, and even Germany. We work diligently to promote responsible ownership and to change the public perception of these dogs.We do this through education at canine events, dog bite prevention presentations in schools, and in our daily interactions with our own dogs and the general public. We feel that we offer an important service to our surrounding communities and that our small group has made a huge impact thus far.
In addition to Rottweilers and Pitbulls, we consistently reach out to other breeds that need our help in our rural community. We have no county humane society, therefore we assist residents and the authorities with local strays and abandoned dogs. We either network with other breed rescues or will go ahead and re-home these dogs ourselves. This places further burden on our rescue resources and funds are easily and most often depleted. We spay/neuter, vaccinate, and Heartworm test each dog that enters our program, and on average, it takes about $300-$400 to ready a dog for adoption. In addition, any major medical issues i.e broken bones, Heartworm disease, etc are treated . Basic operating costs for an average month run a minimum of about $2600.
It is our hope that you will find us worthy of a tax-deductible donation. A donation to our program will enable us to continue our rescue efforts for the dogs that need us, as well as allow us to provide educational resources to our local communities. Please keep in mind that we are funded solely on donations, and any amount is greatly appreciated.
