Please support G-ROW's February training trip to Austin, TX!
G-ROW Boston is the first rowing and relationship-building program designed specifically for girls in the Boston Public Schools. G-ROW builds girls' strength and confidence, and also aims to diversify the traditionally exclusive sport of rowing.
G-ROW Boston provides girls with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: to learn to row and compete on the Charles River. The girls practice three to four days per week throughout the school year to develop new skills, including on-the-water rowing and racing, weight and erg training, boat maintenance, swimming, and leadership skills development. The program also provides mentors, an academic support program, and college advising. To date, nearly all of our graduates have gone on to college.
Each year, the girls travel to warmer places for a spring training trip over February vacation. This is a highlight of the year for the girls and coaches alike; it is a great opportunity for them to bond as a team, see a new place, and get in a LOT of water time after a long winter inside. This year we are going to Texas to row in Austin! We have a chance to row at a club there and see the university, local sights, museums, and a whole new state. We can't wait!
Each of the girls and coaches has committed to raising funds all winter long, with all of our efforts leading up to our 7th Annual Ergathon , taking place on January 29th at the Prudential Center in Boston. Each girl on the team will row roughly 5000 meters on rowing machines, contributing to a team goal of over 100,000 meters. Your donations will make a big difference in the lives of these girls by providing them with a wonderful opportunity to grow as a team and see Texas.
Thank you so much for your support!
