Ladel asks all other Comfort and Service Dogs to help get Dune, a specially trained service dog for Katy who has a rare form MS.
Comfort Dog Ladel would like to help a lady named Katy, member of a Catholic church in Wauconda with a service K-9. She was diagnosed with MS in 2009 at age 36. Her form of the disease is very rare (only 3% of MS cases are of this type). It is called primary progressive because it never goes into remission but just keeps advancing until it takes her life. Her first symptoms were stumbling around in her backyard as if she were drunk. She has since run through all the different available medication treatments for MS and none of them work for her for various reasons including allergies to them. She even tried the 'last chance' drug which is called that because it kills 1 out of every 100 people who try it.
Katy's husband Patrick is a police officer in Wauconda IL . She has a daughter who will be 10 years old this fall. She needs a service dog in order to continue walking and avoid the wheelchair for as long as possible.
A service dog named Dune has been located and is a perfect fit for her. He is a golden lab and available immediately. The cost of the dog is $35,000 and the organization providing it is allowing them to pay $5000 up front then the dog will be placed and they can continue to fundraise until they've paid off the whole amount.
Please pray for Katy and her family in getting Dune and consider helping her make this happen!
