Working toward a National Conservation Area designation for Gold Butte-360K spectacular acres in so. NV to preserve her rich resources.
Friends of Gold Butte is a group of people who are WILD about Gold Butte. We are working with members of the Nevada Congress toward a National Conservation Area with Wilderness designation to protect her for recreation and exploration for years to come.
Gold Butte is rich with historical, cultural, and biological resources. Native Americans called Gold Butte home as many as 2000 years ago while the Spaniards mined the area a few hundred years ago. Gold Butte is home to a variety of wild life including the rare and endangered desert tortoise and the big horn sheep.
There are over 500 miles of designated roads in Gold Butte, and that will not change! What will change is the availability of more resources to manage the growth of activity in Gold Butte including facilities and education.
