Cancellation of our final weekend of sold out performances of CABARET, resulted in over $10,000 in lost box office income! Help!

Frank Theatre tackled an ambitious production of Kander and Ebb's CABARET this spring, and staged it on the Centennial Showboat located on Harriet Island in St. Paul. We had a fabulous cast, led by Bradley Greenwald in the role of the Emcee, Melissa Hart (who played Sally Bowles in the original Broadway staging of CABARET), Patrick Bailey as Herr Schultz, Sara Richardson as Sally Bowles and Max Wojtanowicz as Cliff. The show received remarkable response from both critics and audience ("Bradley Greenwald consumes this delicious avatar of decadence in Frank Theatre's production of "Cabaret" at the Centennial Showboat...Knox gets all this stuff to stand up on its hind legs, driving through the dreary scenes and getting us back to club life. And at the center of it is the Emcee, who in his final image will raise the hair on your neck." --StarTrib) We had sold out houses, and we thought we were going to complete our final weekend just before the river began rising too high. Unfortunately, we were one weekend too long---as the river began rising to the point where the city would shut down the sewers and Xcel would cut the power and access to the Showboat became blocked by water, we had to cancel our final weekend of sold-out performances. The cast and crew, enormously proud of the show, was hugely disappointed; even worse, there were 450 people who wanted to see the show but couldn't because of the water levels. This loss of over $10,000 in box office income is a hard blow to to a theatre with an annual budget of approximately $150,000. We'd like to consider a return to Berlin with a restaging of this show so the cast can "go like Elsie," and ride the crest of the energy of this show to a happier conclusion, but meanwhile, Frank is struggling to replace this lost box office income. Please, help us float our boat with a donation of any size!
