Food For Life uses food to train low-income young adults in DC, empowering them to become change agents in their lives and communities
Food For Life is a culinary training opportunity/catering venture for DC high school graduates who are unemployed and currently without educational/vocational options.
Small group of students enter a positive and supportive kitchen environment where they learn culinary skills by catering in real-time: preparing a 2-3 course dinner for up to 100 people each week.
Food For Life's vision aims to connect these young adults with life skills training as well as mentoring and discipleship relationships so that they can be better equipped to pursue their life goals, inside and outside professional kitchens.
Food For Life is now in the kitchen, with six students through the 2012 DC Summer Youth Employment Program. We also have plans to renovate our current kitchen in Augist/September 2012.
