Food For Life is a Christian social enterprise that uses food to teach older DC youth how to become more employable.

FFL is a culinary training and work readiness program for young adults in Washington, DC (ages 18-23). The young people with whom we work desire meaningful work and fresh opportunity to discover and live into their dreams.

FFL takes a comprehensive approach to food by using it as a tool for (1) culinary training, (2) work readiness (3) life skills training, and community building

FFL focuses on 8-10 students for a nine-week period, Tuesday through Thursday, for a total of 20 hours per week.

On Tuesday and Thursday, students receive Culinary Skills Training from trained chefs while preparing up to 50 "gourmet takeout" meals for customers who purchase the meals online.

On Wednesday, Food Education classes provide opportunities to further explore food, food culture, food justice and how faith and food connect. Life Skills/Job Skills Training focuses on preparing students for employment and a healthy life. Once a month on Wednesday, FFL students, staff, and volunteers sit down together to

Food For Life also aims to connect its students with life skills training and mentoring relationships so that they are better equipped to pursue their life goals, inside and outside professional kitchens.
