The students of Mrs. Fleet's First Grade Class have committed to nightly reading in order to raise funds for classroom technology.
Ms. Fleet’s students love reading books. Here are some of their favorite authors.
Kevin Henkes is one of our favorite authors. The characters in his books are animals. He seems to like writing about mice. Sometimes the stories have problems that are similar to ours.
We also love reading Dr. Seuss books. He writes about things that are not real. They are in a world of their own. His books are very imaginative. We think he dreamed about his characters and story ideas. Dr. Seuss books have riddles and rhymes. We especially like the tongue twisters in his book, Fox in Socks. We also like the sounds. His books are funny and his illustrations have a lot of detail and make us laugh. Some of our favorite books are Green Eggs and Ham and When the Cat in the Hat Returns.
Another one of our favorite authors is Ezra Jack Keats. His stories have funny illustrations and a lot of details. He has African American characters in his books. We enjoyed listening to the story Goggles, especially the part when Peter, Archie and Willie tricked the big boys. Also, the animals in his books act very funny, just like the dog does in Goggles.
