The Hunger Project is committed to the sustainable end of world hunger by empowering men and women to be self-reliant. www.thp.org
As 2009 draws to a close and I complete my round the world travel, it’s probably time I thought about someone other than myself. In the years I’ve spent abroad working and traveling, I’ve visited places suffering from abject poverty. I’ve seen the Burmese hussle for a few US dollars, 5 yr old kids in Cambodia scramble to sell souvenirs, and Brazilian kids resort to crime. 2 things strike me: How much further my USD can go in a poor country. 2) How lucky I am not to have been born in their shoes. It’s almost natural to take food and education for granted because I was born to an educated family in America. As the recent world food summit highlighted, 1 billion people still go hungry everyday, but we can help by donating to The Hunger Project.
The market’s tough, and in a recession we all feel constrained. Charitable contributions are taking a hit just like everything else, at a time when there are even more people in need. Every little bit adds up! Many of you are quite charitable and are already supporting worthy causes. Thanks for making giving a lifestyle! And just $10 from 100 people makes a big difference!
At the end of fundraising, I will run the Lorne Mountain to Surf 8km race on Jan 8. I normally hate running unless I'm running after something, so thank you in advance for motivating me to finish. I will also match the final amount raised, capped somewhere unless somebody finds me a job. =)
Donations are 100% tax deductible, can be done easily via credit card, and don't require registration with the site. You will receive a receipt once you donate, processed by Network for Good.Your donation is made to Network for Good- a nonprofit, donor advised fund, which processes then distributes the donations. Razoo issues a grant to reimburse processing costs, so 100% of your donation goes to charity.
