200 People + $200 = 8 scholarships
As the doors to Faith Christian Academy opened that first day in September 1980, no one knew what to expect. And it showed among the waiting uniform clad students. Some eagerly awaited entry to their classes, looking forward to meeting their teachers, while there were those among them who were less sure and clung desperately to their parents’ hands for reassurance.
Fast forward to September 2012 and FCA, located at 1932 Dewey Ave in Evanston, is once again opening its doors. The children are new, the staff has changed and the building is different. Yet the vision of Faith Christian Academy remains the same, providing quality education with Christian principles to the community.
We strongly believe in training our children in the way they should go and have as the school's driving goal, Faith Ignited Through Christ-Centered Education. We have some very exciting things planned for our students, including a rich music program taught by Grammy award winning songwriter Carlis Moody, Jr., foreign language, and a competitive curriculum with a focus on community service in order to raise our children in the service of God and man. The Academy’s founders, Bishop Carlis and Mother Mary Moody, care deeply about our young people and have a passion for missions. It is with that in mind that we are partnering with our sister schools in Haiti and South Africa to help diversify student learning through cultural exchanges.
Alumni of the Academy have gone on to become teachers, scientists, entrepreneurs, etc. Notably, in a February 2012 article in the Evanston Sentinel, one proud alumnus declared that FCA had provided him with a solid foundation. "Everything they did with us, even the memorization of scriptures developed in me study skills I still utilize today and I’m a senior in college. Songs with lyrics like ‘I am a promise. I am a possibility…I am a great big bundle of potentiality’ empowered me. I truly believe I can do all things.”
So you see, we have a great deal of faith in this new undertaking, but we need the help of many to provide scholarships for students and their families.
Our goal is to have 200 people contribute $200 over the next 10 months. You can make a one-time donation of $200 or you can donate $20 a month for the next 10 months. This would help us to provide almost 8 scholarships.
Will you join us?
